Credit Card Requirement

Post by Ryuchan » Fri, 07 Mar 2008 12:52 am

Does anyone has experience in applying a credit card here? What are the banks requirement? From what I understand foreingners on employment pass are required to have minimum of 60k per annum?! But then, my friend's got it and I got rejected (we both have below required income). Anyone care to share idea on how to get credit carD?
Hi there,
I just moved here about 3 months ago from Australia. I work in Insurance Firm which is situated on the Orchard Road. I am look for a Masterbedroom or common room to share. I am easy going and don't mind sharing with anyone. My budget is 500-600.

I was under the impression credit card requirements was a minimum 30.000....if you do a search on this website, you may be able to pull the data, because it has been discussed a few times.

Forget about UOB

Post by mas6zd » Sat, 08 Mar 2008 12:43 pm

I make a very decent salary with a very clean credit history, and applied with UOB for a credit card, but got rejected.

There's something weird about Singapore; someone claiming to be from UOB called me after I applied, and immediately asked my FIN number. I told them that I was unwilling to provide that information when they call me directly, because I don't know who they are. I called them directly, and asked about my application, then they couldn't find my application.

UOB said they would call back within a day; within 3 days later finally someone called, and someone said that they would stop by. Someone did stop by, and then pushed me to get a credit card with a bigger limit. I told them that I wasn't interested.

Then I waited for 1 month, and called UOB again enquiring about the status. UOB said that they didn't have any record of me applying, but I called the number that they suggested. They said they would get ahold of me within one day. Three days later they called back and said the application was processing smoothly.

Then 1 week later I get a letter in the mail saying that I'm rejected.

I'm calling to file a complaint with the whole process, but I'm kinda glad I was rejected. I wouldn't trust UOB with my bills, if this is the experience that I had.

Sounds pretty incompetent to me.

why don't you try DBS?

I currently have UOB and DBS card. Recently someone called me from UOB also for a new card. I even send them my new application and the photocopies of my official documents. but it has been a month, yet to receive any card.... think i also better call them tomorrow.
