Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and currently still living in London with my husband. We are due to move to Singapore in about 2 months. I am 8 weeks pregnant now and am booked into St. Mary's with a great surgeon but unable to continue the private care because of the move.
I am now looking for a recommendation of a top surgeon in Singapore who's an expert on c-sections. I will go private and would like to have a skilled and experienced doctor by my side. I have 2 girlfriends here in the Uk who have suffered massive keloid scarring and re-infected c-section wounds in the UK and would like not having to experience this.
Are there any Mums or friends who can speak about their own experiences in regards to having c-sections in Singapore? I'd appreciate it so much if any of you can point me into the right direction as I am a bit scared of leaving the doctor and care behind.
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi... i had a c section last year with an OB from MT e. His name was Dr Douglas Ong. I worked in Japan for 10 years and moved to Singapore early Jan last year. It was a tough adjustment and being new to this country, I was also scared in a way. My doctor was logical, firm, very patient, assuring and encouraging. He wanted for a normal birth but the problem came when my baby was growing faster as each week passed. Hence, he advised a c section.
Let me share with you that my scar now is barely seen, no infection, no itchiness. He is very careful as well in stitching. It is indeed a work of art. Whenver I see other mom's scars, I feel very happy to have met this doctor. I do not know how to thank him for all his advise since I was a high maintainance patient but I guess this is one way by sharing my experience.
Do let me know if you are interested to see him, I can recommend you since he is fully booked now. He became famous from last year since he was known to be very patient and takes on difficult cases of pregnant women.
cheers!

Disneysea,
your experience re your doctor sounds great. I will certainly google him and try to get his details.
I wanted to opt for hypno or waterbirthing originally but have a growing cyst which my doctor in London recommended to have taken out...and after hearing horror scar stories I freaked.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

Disneysea,
sorry I forgot to write: yes, I'd be very interested in meeting him. I am currently still in London but my husband and I will move to Singapore in the first week of April.
My baby is due on the 8th of October, but I plan to get a c-section a few days (4-7 days) earlier.
Please let me know if you need my contact details, as I cannot send private messages yet, as I'm a newbie.
Thanks for your kind help!

Sure. His office number is 67338880
Do give him a call once you arrive here because he is always full.
If you are not comfortable with him, then feel free to see other OB.
I have seen 2 others andI finally choose him.
The only problem is the waiting time can be long esp if you see him on Saturdays.
I heard fo this another doctor, Anne Hagetry.. I will get the right name for you. Expats favored her a lot so I can assume she is also expensive but very good reputation.
This is an island so if there is any good or bad deed a dr had done, the news spread quite fast.

if you want me to book it for you, do give me your details
i will call them and book it as early as now
btw you might be interested to know this since the other mom was asking me, fees would be 100sgd for the first check up and succeeding will be around 80 to 60... i am not sure of his rate since he has a package rate esp if you are coming when you are already 18week or 19 weeks old
cheers.

Hi there, I was doing a search on the best surgeons for c-sections in Singapore and came across the posts from Minou88 who was moving from London to Singapore. Minou88, which surgeon did you decide upon in the end? I have just moved from London and am pregnant (early stages) with my second child. I had an emergency with my first child and the surgeons at St. Marys were brilliant. Would very much appreciate a reply from Minou88. Many thanks.

Hi Minou88, I wasn't able to send you a private message due to not having submitted enough posts. Anyway, thank you so much for your very in-depth reply. It was very informative and incredibly helpful. We have the same first name but slightly different spelling. How spooky is that? Also, thanks for your good wishes. Take care and all the best for the future for you and your family. x

I would recommend my OB/GYN Dr. Lai Fon Min at A Company for Women at camden medical. I had a c-section with him - a very good experience. My recovery was super smooth and he gives alot of personal attention. Very good bedside manners. Returns your calls and emails promptly.
