Getting married in Singapore

Post by Allegra » Thu, 28 Feb 2008 1:43 am

Hi,

As far as I am informed - we're planning to get married too, when we are settled - then all you should need, is to obtain a certificate from your home country - sometimes the embassey can arrange this for you, stating that you are free to marry. The marriage certificate will then need to be sent back for certification - so that your marriage becomes legally binding in your respective home countries as well. You may need your birth certificate too - this varies, however. You will both need to obtain these cerficates. It should be possible to get married in a town hall or equivalent, this is most often associated with a cost. You can try and contact the local mayor in order to request more info.

It's a good idea to arrange it all some time in advance.

Hope it was of some help.

Congratulations and good luck!
