de facto relationship

Post by welshkiwi » Sun, 24 Feb 2008 9:52 am

My partner and I are not married and it's me who has secured the senior management position in Singapore. He wants to eventually get a position once in SNG (has Uni grad quals, long work history in management including NZ and UK roles) but is keen to ensure we are settled before hunting for one as he's just completed a contract in the UK and fancies a break!! He's on a British passport and I am on an NZ one.

Does not being married cause problems in SNG? Looking at the MOM site it seems that he can't get a dependant pass only a long term social visa.

Any advice?

Thanks

Obviously not one you will want to hear. Get Married.

What is wrong with getting a LTSVP? Tell him to find a job. If he's got the qualifications and experience he should be able to find something in his own rights. Seriously, you don't want to be working and him just running loose around Singapore with nothing to do (on a break). You know the old saying "Idle hands are the devil's workshop?". Obviously I don't know you nor your bf but I do know what can happen even to the best of Married couple let alone without a commitment between two people.

Seen it happen way to often (from both sides). :(

What's wrong with SPGs?
On www.spg.com it states that
"True elite status starts sooner with SPG."
A new one: "SPG = More Miles." Or should it be High Miles?

At Le Meridien on Orchard Road there is also a specific welcome note and check-in for SPGs.

Not the Starwood Preferred Guests. The other SPGs lah! :P

Come to think of it, I got SPG status (Starwood Preferred Guest) because of the traveling I do for my job. :P
