Banking/Finance job for fresh graduate

Post by bolehan » Sat, 23 Feb 2008 4:13 pm

hello, I'm a graduating senior studying in USA and plan to work at Singapore after graduation.

Anybody know how hard is it to find a job in Singapore for a fresh graduate without relevant experience in banking industry? Does a CFA help if I don't have experience?

Nope. You need experience. A degree only keeps your CV from going immediately into the trash can or delete file. Once they do a 15 second scan then it will go into the delete file. Why should they go through the hassle of hiring a newbie from overseas who needs housing, etc, etc, when they can hire a local who is just as good and will only want $2300 SGD/mo and no perks at all because he lives at home with his parents?

Fergeddit.

Why should the go through the hassle of getting an employment pass either when they don't have to. Anyway, unless you can bring something to the table that is needed here in Singapore and cannot be provided by a local, then the MOM will not give the employer the employment pass anyway regardless of how little or much you require.
