110 voltage equipment on adapters

Post by hornedfrog » Mon, 18 Feb 2008 3:37 am

Is there anything wrong with running some 110 equipment on adapters? We intend to ditch most of our 110 stuff (such as lighting), but there are 1-2 items like our stereo and fancy vacuum cleaner that we really like. Should I bring these?

those step down transformer (240 to 110) are OK if you gonna use it for a short period of time, although you can get some heavy duty ones. i used to have one for my cordless fone but after a while i just got a new fone locally.

the transformer does run hot and i dont think it is very energy efficient (yeah, bad carbon footprint). in the long run, it is better to get your electrical stuff locally.
