Convection ovens

Post by ozchick » Sun, 17 Feb 2008 8:44 pm

Apparently this is the forum for this question? We'll see.
I'm wanting advice on convection ovens. I'm about to buy one but some come with a tray that water should be poured into, and others don't have this facility at all. I'd prefer the one without the need for water....but not if it doesn't cook the whole range of dishes as well as well as the other type. Anybody had experience with this ?

ovens rock.

My wife (a Singaporean) LOVES the oven I have in Australia, as she could bake cakes for the first time in her life.

I'll give YOU lah ! But yeah you're right Durain. Although it says in the forum index that this is the forum for home appliances.....I'm not making much progress. Do you think I'm permitted to move it to general?
Do I hear you saying, "Can ! Can !"

Good God, I wouldn't know where to find an oven in Singapore.

Not a high turnover sale item there, and would probably cost 2 or 3 times the aussie prices, I would imagine, for that reason.

Probably best to throw the question out to the 'general' mob =)

Ok, I'll be honest, I know nothing about a convection oven. I did have a small(same size as your microwave) normal oven when I lived in Singapore and I loved it. I could roast a chicken, bake a pie, bake cookies, casseroles, etc. If that's what you want to do, look for a smaller version of the oven you've had in back in Ozzie land. I got mine at Best or Harvey Norman.

Hope that helped, OzChick!!
