Help for my assignment! What do you want from your foundation

Post by iliana24 » Sun, 17 Feb 2008 7:20 am

Hello girls,

I'm working in one assignment regarding consumers' preferences and I would be grateful if you would answer to my poll.

This poll is anonymous so you don't have to publish your vote.

Thanks in advance,
iliana

You are going to fail your course miserably. Did you ever think that people may have multiple preferences? Therefore you survey is flawed before you even start. You get an "F" for the course.

I didn't want to make a multiple choice poll because I wanted to avoid the fact that we all want all of the above.

Imagine that all people would like to choose all the choices!! I decided to make this type in order to see which is the most important foundation's characteristic for women.

Which is yours? :)

So again, you picked a topic where everybody wants it all. Kinda hard to do a proper market survey without listing say an order of preference. Think about it......

Some want price but if the product really delivers then maybe price becomes secondary depending on the product. You still get an "F" for trying to find the easy way out rather than going down to Raffles Place at lunchtime and having people answer questions on paper as you ask them.

What's important to me? Girls who don't have to wear foundation.

The purpose of the poll has to do regarding the priorities that women put in order to buy something and refers to characteristics that have already been taken into account by multinational companies.

Girls who don't have to wear foundation are out of the purpose of the poll.

Thanks people who voted.

Usually women wear foundation. However, if there is a man who uses it and would like to vote, it's ok with me. I also appreciate his opinion.

iliana24,

No one has to register to take your poll nor to the have to guarantee their gender. They only have to be registered on this site just like you. How do you know that the people who responded to your poll were foundation wearers in the first place. They could just be voting to skew your polls because you were to lazy to go out and do it correctly by interviewing the woman on the street.

And you made it to an institute of higher learning? :o :???:

Interviewing people in street is quite old-fashion. People nowdays use computer - as you do- is stupid at least to go out and bothering people who want to go to their job, who are in hurry to do to their obligations.

There are modern methodologies of making a research, just visit a University for postgraduate studies and you will get informed. Nobody goes to the street to interview people unless he wants to sell them something or to give them a product sample.

Regarding the reliability of answers ask people who have studied Statistics and use online surveys in order to make their research. For example, many famous portals e.g. bbc, cnn make online polls in order to be portrayed opinions of people regarding political , social problems e.t.c.
You have never seen them? Just visit cnn.com, for instance.

Have a nice day there!

Just choose -if you want- the most important for you.
The poll has to do regarding priorities.

Thanks for your time.

I am probably a lot more knowledgeable about what you are studying than you are. I am also quite aware of online polls by those who know what they are doing. Therein lies the major difference. Most polls are not gender specific but if they are they usually will preface the polls with some parameter questions to enable to researcher to better quantify the results. You have done none of these things that are the basics of online polls. Even with enough parameters to use, most still have a 3~5% margin for error. Without any parameters to help you, you would have to use a 100% margin for error as you don't have a clue who is filling out the polls.

Could be local wannabe metrosexual males or immature females (both found in abundance in the PS threads. It's not like you targeted your demographic audience very well. I would have thought you would have used a forum dedicated to women or makeup to better target your audience. You know, something like http://www.shoppinglifestyle.com/forum/ or something similar. Nevermind. It's your grade not mine.

As you can see I posted in Beauty section not in Career or something like that. (I have also visited other forums successfully). If you have any more questions you may contact with someone who has studied Statistics, for further information.

(What is "PS" ? )

what's wrong with good old fashion doing a survey on the street? i think doing a survey on the street give you a more accurate answer. whereas an online survey can be all BS - you dont know your target audience and people will just click whatever.

to get a good survey on the street, you need to have a good approach. i quite enjoy going out in the street bothering people in the name of survey. :P

Internet gives the opportunity of two things:

1) Having biggest sample something which is an important factor in order to have representative answers. (if 500 persons on the street answer something, this means nothing for the majority of people worldwide).
2) Protecting the right of keeping personal opinions anonymous.

Bothering people on the street is something illegal as the answers have to be anonymous. If not, you have to do with transgression of personal rights. Besides, you have the same possibility of having answers that are not true. (A woman both on the street and via internet could tell lies regarding her preferences).
Its different if you got 1.000.000 answers (internet) than 1000 (on the street).

Regarding the nature of the poll -as I wrote before- has to do regarding priorities that women or men put when they buy this product and refers to characteristics that have already taken into account by companies.

No matter someone where he comes from, no matter his gender.
This poll is not racist!
I care for the opinion of all foreign people giving to them the opportunity of not answering me, instead of bothering them illegally on the street.
