Thank you to both Plavt and Awless for sharing their knowledge of the question posted by Twinkling..

Personally i believe that the info Awless provided COULD be true, after all it's been implemented by SIA too.. ( No Doubt it doesn't make sense.. )

No matter what we will soon find out should any of us here by called up for interview, or even better offered a position.

But i believe that no candidate would question the airline on any discrepencies/differences ( IF ANY ) regarding the contract offered to UK and SIN based crew.. ( hey.. not good to start an argument during an interview right...) And personally i feel that it isin't a big deal.. really...
Though they term it a probation for the 1st 6 months but i dun see a big diff. other than the "term".

Again, thank you all for your help...

Dru,
Something that has occurred to me since the above postings is they may be truth on both sides; a good number of the Singaporean based BA crew have been working for BA for some considerable time and would have different contacts to newbies. The law regarding age and a few other things was only recently changed (in the last two years if I remember rightly).

Should BA by some chance still be implementing the mentioned policies I suggest you speak candidly to a local union official if there is one, alternatively contact them in the UK. There is something else I could mention but that would be rather risky this being a public forum.

Hoping_To_Be wrote:My friend is a current BA Singapore-based crew. And from what I understand from her, the 6 months probation period does exist. Please do not ask me why this is so but it seems to be the way it is even though the initial contract that they offer is a 1 year temp one. It is indeed quite similar to what Flyaway has mentioned.

I am guessing Awless might have her own reason for not wanting to quote her source. BA's base in Sg is pretty small, word spread like wildfire and things can backfire when the wrong things are said.

People always say that Singaporeans are reserve, even to the extend of being cowardly. Yet when someone does speak up, we're being told that Silence Is Golden. What an irony.

The point of having this forum is to help each other, let's be amicable and treat one another with respect.
hello!

hee.. since ur fren is a BA - sin based crew.. can find out more from her about the interviews and training and job scope? TIA :)
