Relocating to Singapore

Post by NewtoSG » Thu, 14 Feb 2008 11:29 pm

I have just accepted an offer to work in Singapore and will be coming over shortly, can anyone advise a suitable district to be in? My work place will be in Raffles Place, I hope to be close to restaurants and shopping.

Are you single or have a family? If single then your best options are River Valley/Orchard area which is a 10min taxi/train ride.....alternatively the Tanjon Rhu area is a good option but bit more family centric

hi,
Exactly When will you be here, these days looking for the right place and within the budget takes time.

There are many places which you can choose which is near Orchard & Raffles Place. I use to work at Raffles Place too. So long as the place is near MRT - train station it would be convenient enough.

If you are single or small family, there is a place near Raffles Place which can be a walking distance to work once you know the route, near restaurants and shopping all within short walking or 1-2 train stops. However, being nearer to town would cost more rental.

cheers

I agreed with cats.

Looking for the right place take time. It also depend on your requirment such as type of housing (Private or shared), budget, Single or family etc.

There are lots of choice and the price range can be very wide. It is always good to take your time to look for suitable unit. Dont rush into it as it can be frustrating at time looking.

Good luck and welcome to Singapore ;)

area near raffles would be

to the north
bishan, ang mo kio

to the west
redhill, outram, tanglin, commonwealth, clementi

to the east
aljunied, kallang.

in general, the east of singapore within vicinity of the city area is just traffic chaos, avoid kallang or aljunied if i were u.

same goes with bishan or ang mo kio

u can try tiong bahru, redhill or outram
u can go as far as buona vista but once u reach clementi, its traffic chaos.
