toy poodle

Post by imalone » Sun, 10 Feb 2008 12:36 pm

OK, this is probably a dumb question but:

I want to get my son a dog for his birthday, and because he suffers from asthma a poodle is the best breed due to the hair/ fur thing. I also did a lot of research of various breeds and it seems to be a good 'fit' for our family and lifestyle.

Trouble is, most pet shops seem to have about 3 dogs at any one time, and none of the 5 places I left my contact number with have ever gotten back to me. A bit of a puzzle as I am potentially a customer, but it seems to be the way with many businesses these days.

Is there any area in Singapore that has pet stores with toy breeds for sale?

Has anyone purchased a toy poodle and if so could you share the information?

I'd appreciate any constructive suggestions, so please no trolls today,

did u try pet safari in simei shopping centre? or is it east point? anyway, its located near to simei MRT station...

as the owner of a toy poodle, in fact, owner of any dog would have the same question, how old is your son? if he's not ready for the dogs, are u as parents, prepared to take full responsibility and commit to keeping it, instead of conveniently giving it away?

no flaming pls, that was how i adopted my dog, thankful to them though... but still... poor excuse to give the doggie away, saying their son was not ready to keep a dog... :? :?

perhaps rather than a pet store, you could contact a breeder direct?

you could also think about poodle cross breeds, which may also solve the asthma problem. spoodle for example (spaniel/poodle cross)

yes but can anyone help with the question?

I have had two dogs in my lifetime and our previous dog passed away at a grand old age just over 2 years ago, so yes, we are ready for a new one. Because we live here now we need a toy size due to living space.

anyway, thanks for all the pro-dog concern and mini-lectures and advice and yes, all those cross breeds sound lovely BUT; how do I find the breeders? Any idea where to look?

I have tried yellow pages, asking people on the street (avoided as though mad woman, lol)... looking looking and no luck.

I will try the pet safari place if I can find it, but actual details would really help...

cheers for the suggestions though :)
