So I went to Mezza9's bar at the Hyatt yesterday in the expectation of kicking back with a nice glass of cognac and a big fat stogie... only to find that the once-excellent Cigar Bar has been segregated from the rest into a pathetic little smoking cubicle, with a big sign saying that Singaporean law forbids serving food or beverages inside.
My question is: where, if anywhere, can a man go in Sing these days to smoke a decent cigar and wet his whistle while he's at it? Is it really legally impossible indoors, and if so, which outdoor bars offer a decent selection?

Nobody? C'mon, there's gotta be a decent place where you can light up. Balcony? Breeze at Scarlet Hotel? Km8? Cafe del Mar? Or do I really have to bring my cigar to Arab St?

Maybe the Quaish bar at Copthorne waterfront. Its not great, but can smoke cigars and drink whiskey inside

Its just round the corner from Zouk, next to the Maserati garage

Hi jpatokal,
I understand your frustration!!! The law in Singapore is that bars and restaurants can only have 10% of their total superficy as a smoking area!!! indoor and outdoor!
ANyway, there is a bar/restaurant in Hyatt on the 5th floor called Oasis. You can buy your cigar downstairs and smoke it there. It's by the pool and has a good relaxing atmosphere in the evening.
If you buy your cigar in a shop (oak shop at Tanglin near orchard or Gd Hyatt) you can also try a place called Scarlet hotel on club street. They have a great bar on the roof top wth a small but comfortable smoking area.....
hope it helps!!
Enjoy!

...that's the Breeze I mentioned earlier! One of my favorite places in all Singapore. Do you know if they actually sell cigars, or is it just BYO?

You might want to visit connoiseur divan at UE square, it is a cigar lounge.

Thanks for the tip, but... champagne with cigars?

That seems like a bit of a waste, no?

As one of the posters mentioned above I'd recommend The Connoisseur Divan at UE Square. The smoking lounge is upstairs and well ventillated...i.e. doesn't feel like an opium den and there is a nice selection of cigars and good (decently priced too) whiskeys and congnac to go along with your cigars. HAd a couple of decent evenings in there and there is usually a small band (i.e. 2 or 3 of them that just add to the atmosphere) Happy smoking!
