Isn't a Senior Police Officer one that has experience? If so, how are you going to apply for that position if you are still in school?

Us expats have all sorts of interesting careers in Singapore, but I'm fairly sure that there aren't too many expat police officers... :???:

That one is definitely a local. You can tell by the sentence structure.

I guess like most service recruitment drives, you get all the adventurous, attractive sales patter, with full promise, only to find out, that you are chasing a limited number of positions, and the competition is overwhelming, with arseholes and back stabbers! If you can hold your head up, and not waver, in the face of your enemy (The Competitors) then you may be in with a chance.

Unfortunately most service positions in the UK, are based on educational qualifications, more than experience and commonsense, and that is why the UK police force, are so bloody pathetic, and shooting everybody, at will. 30 years of terrorism in it's own back yard and the Army was not allowed a shoot to kill policy, just a bunch of pathetic cards, to read, before you pulled the trigger (joke of the day)

Yet because the police force considers itself, much more sophicticated, than the Army, they are allowed a shoot to kill policy! Yet, the majority have never had the experience of combat.

So I have a funny feeling you may do pretty damn well, in the police force, if you work on your exams, and avoid any confrontations, of warfare! Kiss bottoms is the word to success! :P

Yeah, that seems fairly obvious... which is precisely why I was wondering why he's posting on singaporeexpats.com.

Because Singaporeexpats is not exclusively an expat-only forum and has quite a number of locals that contribute to discussions as well?

There are many Chinese and Indian nationals in the local universities / polytechnics and I wouldn't be surprised if they might be interested in joining the police force after graduation (possibly after applying for PR?).

I don't see why they aren't expats ;)

iloveps2: Try the local forums, you'll have more luck there and there will be fewer grammar nazis.

Yeah, and there's nothing stopping me from asking child-care tips on Hardwarezone.com.sg or crochet technique on Sammyboy. Doesn't mean I'll get many sensible answers...

That said, I was a little surprised to see that you don't need to be a citizen to be a cop here, PR is enough. Maybe it's time for a career change

Does hardwarezone have a childcare section, or sammyboy have a crochet section?

The fact is this website DOES have a Careers and Jobs section.

I'm just a little baffled by this response.

Voila! Finding this took all of about 5 seconds using Google;

http://www.spf.gov.sg/career/po_entry.htm

There's even a section for Senior Police Officer.

I'm baffled by your bafflement. The original poster asked: may i know how is the interview like? and care to share your experience in your job?

Now, do you think it's likely that there are people on this forum (description: "Discuss about getting a well paid job or career advancement. Ask about salaries, expat packages, CPF & taxes for expatriate.") who are police officers in Singapore or have even taken the interview for the job?

Again, I'm not saying you can't post about the topic, I'm just saying you're unlikely to get any responses because being a police officer in Singapore is not an expat job. And whaddaya know, there haven't been any responses about the interview or the actual experience of being a cop here.
