Depending on you degree needed and range of motion (if you get full width progressive they will cost between 2 & 3X more). If you can train your brain that eye scanning left to right to left can no longer be done then it's okay. Or if you only need bifocals and the bottom are only for reading, e.g., newspaper, magazine or documents you should be okay. My problem was with trifocals were the help I really needed was with the PC degree in the middle and it was way to narrow side to side and thin top to bottom to be effective more than troublesome. YMMV
