Hi everybody,

I am sooo very new in here... in fact i jz found this forum today... & gosh, i declare that i have read total of almost 200pages at one time from 7pm till midnight... PHEW!!!.. I was tat engross... Newae im glad i had found sumthin resourceful at last!! I have been findin an address or email to write in instead.. this is due to because I had bad experience goin for the walk-in the last time... *haiz*..long story...

Bt nonetheless I stil came down for the walk-in today only because the HR lady gave me assurance on certain issues...

The story is the last time I went, I was rejected at queue jz because I dont have any 'O' lvls... Bt the strange thing is I have a diploma.. Ridiculous I tell you!!.. plus the lady who screen me was loud!! Gosh!! U imagine with the crowd today hw embarassin it was for me.. So I called up the HR and she told me I wldnt have any problem this time.. And this was my second attempt with SQ... I had always been trying SILKAIR because I meet their requirements. Bt I had always want to see the world.. dun get me wrng... that is nt my motive to join.. this is really my hardcore passion.. (if thats a term I shld use)..

Afterall that boost of confidence built, got thru from the screenin.. nt until I reach the measurement stage, the measure me at 156.65.. Im like WTF!!!... I rmbr the last I measured was 1.58 at least.. I thot I shrink bt it happen to my fren too...

So then I thot I wld jz wait for the write-in..

The qns is:

- Can I jz submit my resume to the cabin crew email add and use the application form from the write in format or shld I wait for the advertisement on the web first??

- If I happen to shortlisted, wld my chance to pass thru the height test be still slim??

Dats my qns for nw... There seems to be many more bt gz I'll take one step at a time....

the answers to your questions can all be found on the SIA thread. but in a nutshell, i think it'd be best that you wait for an opening for the write-in application and then send in your application. and if you're shortlisted, there will still be a height test before the first round, like always. hope this helps! :)

Did you make them aware of that? A diploma should supersede any lesser qualification unless it is from an institution they don't recognize. Either that or they have a strange way of doing things.
I had always been trying SILKAIR because I meet their requirements.
I am not sure I understand this....

yeah, me too not quite sure what you mean about that. are you saying silkair requirements are less than the likes of SQ and other airlines? or just the requirement of height?

So you mean, if you don't have O's but you have diploma is alright?
Plus, I think you should just wait for the write-in application is up on their website. If you still insist, to send it now.. Go ahead. But your application is either in their trashbox or you have to wait for the next interview and they will shortlist you. If you have to wait, you will be very very impatient. Cause, it's going to take a long time. Till then, just wait and see...

For height, just make sure you jump alot before the interview. Stand straight when taking the height measurement... If you made it, you made it.. If you don't, then you don't. Just that, luck is not there.

lol, never heard about the jumping up and down to get higher. but i do know that in the morning after a good night sleep, you are taller compare to at the end of the day. this is due to gravity.

just like sport person that do bobsled, because of the high g-force, they are getting shorter!!!

as to your application/interview/walk-in, keep trying. you never know, you might get lucky. dont just stop at applying for SQ or silkair. there's other airline out there as well. maybe once you become a crew with other airline and gain the experience, then you can revisit applying for SQ.

silkair only requires N level minimum and i gt thru the rounds with not much of a problem... and yes i did made them aware that i have diploma from a private institution that is nw called FTC KAPLAN bt they mention that it has to be from the local poly in Singapore and even if i have private dip they still need my O level as a reference....

so far as i rmrber they do not take height measurement at all at the first round... im dun quite rmbr if during the WCT round they measure... bt even so I pass thru till the mgmt round with no problem... bt in the end i was nt selected...

Based on my logic and opinion, there are millions of hopefuls like you. Imagine millions sent it their application before the write-in applications are open on the web. Do you think you might stand a chance? Maybe yes, maybe no.

It's just like walk-in, the day you have the walk in, the day you go. Not months before right??

Is your diploma from a private sch? I understand that only accepts local poly diploma.

As for the height issue for write in, they took my height & weight even before the 1st rd of interview. :)
