Dome cafes do well priced (aka reasonable) breakfasts and make a pretty good coffee too.

Another great coffee place is Cafe Beviamo upstairs on L5 at Paragon - near all the kids' clothes shops and Toys R Us.

Australian Opening a Brekky Cafe in Singapore?

Post by karenalexislee » Wed, 11 Jun 2008 1:52 pm

Dear All,

I am thinking of moving to Singapore to open a Brekky Cafe which serves proper Western Breakfast and would like everyone's view on this? How difficult is it to survive in Singapore for an Australian.

Cheers!

Its not the nationality, if you make soggy toast, rubber scramble eggs and rat piss coffee, I give you two weeks.

The cafe in Tanglin mall is always packed with those types who wear interesting glasses, the sort who know the difference between a Doppio and a Macchiato, It looks good but because its packed never tried it.

Come to think of it, how come I don't see any western style diners like Denny's, Ihop etc...

I miss steak and eggs and unlimited coffee/soda.... :(

Update: Boomarang, the Australian restaurant in Robertson Quay, is serving a nice breakfast with good size portions, albeit a bit pricey. But delicious and as close to the Denny's / IHOP sort of combinations/creations as one will find in Singapore. Its neighbour at the Gallery Hotel, EM On The River, does a nice job. I find Epicurious to be overrated but it always draws a weekend breakfast crowd so they must do something right. There are plenty of Irish breakfasts around as well - any of the proper Irish/English pubs serve up the standard fare.

We like Tanglin Tree right across from the Tanlin Mall. It opens around 8:30am I think and has the bonus of the play structure for the kids outside.
