if you gonna be in tanglin mall, you might as well goto the food court as there's a store doing western food. ok, so not very glamourous and not outdoor but it's good food

do you know any nice place to have breakfast (western style breakfast)
in weekdays?

cheers,
If you are talking about an English breakfast, there are lots of places (hotels, pubs, etc.). If you're talking about an American breakfast, the only place I know is the American Club and it's not very good.

There are couple good ones along Singapore river, but can't remember the name.. (doh, getting old. this is my second post I cant remember the name).
One is just next to Gallery Hotel, and another is in the corner, somewhere opposite Alkaff Bridge. Both of the shops are facing the river.

Nice place for breakfast

The best place for breakfast, by far, is Jones the Grocer at Dempsey Hill.

It is a French style cafe. Beautiful poached eggs with smoked salmon etc and desserts that looks fabulous.

Just had breafast at Halia in botanical gardens very nice with kids menu. Both indoor and out door seating, for those with a hangover if you get an outdoor table avoid being right under the fans, its a glass roof and the strobe effect from the sunlight passing through the fan is really nauseating while eating.

Has a bit of the tourist crowd feel about it, I am sure its in those travel guides

Came back from a nice breakfast at the new kepple marina club, The retaurant wont allow kids or shorts, but the cafe does and quite pleasant, its been stinky hot the last few days and there was a cool sea breeze.

Pain in the butt to get to if you dont have a car

Guilty as charged :P ...although I didn't recommend the breakfast, I think I should try it out!

My top pick, from Wikitravel Singapore:

Epicurious, 60 Robertson Quay #01-02, ☎ +65-67347720. Tue-Fri lunch/dinner, Sat-Sun all day (breakfast until 1 PM). This lovably quirky cafe-delicatessen is justly renowned for its gourmet breakfasts, featuring not only the usual pancakes and toasts but more offbeat options too. Try the Green Eggs and Ham, with pesto scrambled eggs and prosciutto ($12), and wash it down with freshly squeezed juice ($5).

Simply Bread, just around the corner, also has pretty good breakfast chow, but IIRC only on Sundays. (Of course you can pick up fresh bread/pastries and juice anytime.)
