Paintings and decorations

Post by Currant » Tue, 22 Jan 2008 4:27 pm

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum.

Would anyone know if there are any places that lease paintings or wall hangings? Our apartment is now furnished but the walls are all empty and looking a bit sad. We would buy some nice art work but know that we would never be able to bring them back home with us, so were thinking of the renting option. I have called some furniture leasing stores but they will only lease paintings if you lease furniture from them.

Any ideas?

You might want to check out this place called colours of the wall. I just went to their sale last weekend, and thought it was great! bought a few from them. Think they open every sat..cannot remember the opening hours though...you can check out the details at coloursofthewall.com.
They sell really good quality oil paintings at very cheap prices. most paintings sell for between 100 to 300 bucks. Think its more economical than to lease. Also, the paintings can be dismantled from the mounts relatively easily should you want to bring them back next time.

You would have more fun creating your own, and probably save a small fortune too.

I actually purchased some Chinese traditional calendar, and cut the pictures out, and framed them quite cheap...you can also check out the charity shops too, for pics....Just use your imagination, there are plenty of things, you can hang on the wall, including plants and very cheap mirrors, just use the frames from the mirrors...search and you will find, get a DIY book from the library on home deco!

You can probably do the whole house for a 100$, and paintings, you can always role up and take with you too!

Even the free advertising post cards, look great if they are matched together and set in a frame! I decorated my kids room, by getting some stencils. Try making your own picture, then paint a frame around it! 8-)

BTW no need to pay 100$ for a painting, go to China Town, you can pick one up for 30$ to 50$ no problem, don't get conned into paying more, unless you think its good value for money.

check out ikea as well as they got prints and frames.

btw, also check with the landlord if you are allow to hang stuff on the wall. coz hanging stuff = nails in the wall! might be in your tenancy agreement you are not allow to do so.
