Request your kind advice to find a job in singapore

Post by nas7 » Mon, 14 Jan 2008 6:14 pm

Hi all,

I live in Dubai but am really keen to relocate to singapore for a number of reasons. (the girl of my dreams for one! :o )

I've been applying to numerous positions online but to no avail. It just seems absolutely pointless/useless me even trying as there are no replies, no leads, no luck.

Im 28, a graduate in Management Studies from the University of Surrey in the UK, been working in Dubai for a leading oil company - in the retail operations / convenience stores departments - for the last 5 years yet still dont get any responses from companies in Singapore, regardless of who I apply to.

I dont know whether they're just not interested in employing foreigners (im British) over locals - maybe I'm seeking too high a salary (only looking for 5k or so per month) - but anyway I'm at my ends wits - nothing seems to be working.

Would seriously appreciate any feedback, links, potential job openings, contacts - anything that may assist in me finally finding a suitable position in SG.

Numerous people have advised me to go back to SG on holiday (for at least 2 to 3 weeks), apply to jobs then and attend interviews etc - i.e. rather than just doing it online ... but I'm not too convinced that it would all come together in the space of 2 weeks anyway ...

please help! thank you for your time ...

N.

HI nas,

I think if you are asking for SGD 5k or so a month, it depends on the position you are applying for. it should somehow be middle management.

singapore welcomes foreigners to work here and there area a plenty in the company im working for and the partner of the company that Im working for...

maybe you should search for MNCs (e.g shell/ exxonmobil etc.) related to the field of expertise (if it's oil operations in this case) and check out if the singapore company actually needs/requires your expertise.

or maybe you can try websites that provide employment services e.g. jobstreet, jobsdb or you can try sending emails to big recruitment agencies e.g. adecco or recruitexpress...

hope the above helps in a way or 2....

so are you in the oil industrial or in the convenience stores dept? and are you asking for £5k or S$5k per month?

Hi Nas7,

Advised you have heard from numerous people is applicable to me. I graduated in business studies from Hertfordshire University, UK , had 7 years working experience. I got my job during my 3 weeks stay here for vacation and job hunting.

But I have to tell you if you really keen to come here we need to take whatever possibilities include lowering down our expectation.

I hope this give you a little more convince. Good luck!! :)
