having a baby is going to be expensive and one of them are nappies. go for huggies. second would be pampers. dont bother with cheapo nappies unless you are going to change it every 2 hours. bad nappies = baby sore bum!

We use cloth nappies. They is an initial investment, but then you certainly save money. One-size adaptable cloth diapers are a great investment because they grow with your baby. As well, you can use the same diapers if you have more children.
My favourites are the BumGenious 3.0 One-size, pocket diaper (has an applix (velcro) close) and Wonderoos One-size, pocket diaper (snaps close). I don't now about the availability of these in shops in Singapore, but you can order them online from any online store you can find the best price - factoring in currency and the shipping costs as well.
More info found here:

I buy Drypers, its good quality and you can find them in big packs. No leakage and they can really retain well. Its cheaper than Huggies and Pampers which are just more costly due to their brand name.
I've already tested Huggies and Pampers by the way. The pull-ups ones are good to have later from 8 months old when the baby is too mobile. And the swimming ones too.

my little on used to fill her nappies very impressively 12 times a day on average and I agree that drypers are the only ones so far that managed without leaks, hence i am a big fan !!!!!!!
They are not anywhere near as expensive as pampers or huggies . Hope this helps.

Hi Nepia is a good Japanese brand that is equivalent to higher end diapers like Pampers Active Baby but at lower costs than Pampers. The quality is quite refined with soft cottony feel, gathers at the leg that do not leave red markets and soft fasteners that do not stick to baby's skin and can be refastened. It also has eucalyptus extract. I did not consider other cheaper brands when my son was newborn as I did not want to risk diaper rash.
Nepia is not as well known in the mainstream but has a cult following among local mothers participating in motherhood forum and Japanese mothers here. The good thing is they can be ordered directly from the supplier (tel: 6226 2650) in a carton of 4 packs that would be delivered to your door. The delivery service is very useful for new mothers who have no time to shop.
It costs $60 for 4 packs of any size so you could mix sizes. Newborn size comes in a pack of 60. The cut is not as big as Pampers Newborn so I find it fits better. It is normally only available at some NTUCs or Japanese supermarkets.
As my son is now past 7 months, we are trying out Huggies Dry Comfort which are slightly cheaper than Nepia.

We used to use Nepia too last time for overnight. It's really very good. cost $15.50-16.50 in supermarkets (About $0.50 to 0.55/pc)
Whereas petpet is a personal recommendation from friend. It cost $0.25 per pc. IT's surprisingly very good too for its price.
And of cuz cloth diapers are the best. It saves money and it's reusable though it's quite costly to buy. andit's the best remedy for nappy rash.

I am now trying out Huggies Dry Comfort for day and Huggies Ultra for night. Dry comfort is great for day and is about 20% cheaper than Nepia of equivalent size but not worse in quality. The Huggies Ultra is more expensive than Nepia but significantly thicker. If the Ultra works out well for 12 hours, then I may switch from Nepia to Huggies for night as well. Nepia has not leaked overnight so far but it does look pretty soaked by morning and I would like something to keep baby drier for the night.
Aquario - the cloth diapers look interesting but does it last as long as disposables? I tried the traditional gauze cloth nappies once when I was on maternity leave. I had to change my baby several times in an hour and that drove us crazy. So we gave up on cloth nappies altogether even though I meant to try. I find that cloth nappies are also less dry than disposables. It would be horrible I would imagine to clean after the baby passed stool.

Cloth diapers are tricky for newborns because of the nature of the messy breastmilk poop and the frequency of the pooping. We used Moltex recycled/partially degradable diapers for the first month, then switched to using BambinoMio cloth diapers (cotton insert with plastic cover) for the next two months, especially at home where it doesn't matter if there is a leak. By four months there is less poop and at 5 and 6 months if you start solids the poop changes, so clothe diapers are very easy to use. If you check the links I posted before about the cloth diapers e.g. BumGenius you can see the features of the diaper and why it is better than old fashioned cloth diapers. We seriously love our cloth diapers, and they are stylish too. No baby should be left in a diaper for too long, disposable or not - it can harm the skin. My son very rarely has a rash when using cloth diapers - no cream needed

While cloth can be tricky with a newborn, once one is in a routine, it's fairly simple.
Bumgenius diapers have a One Size diaper that fits from newborn to toddler. We still use ours and love it.
Another brand I like is also Fuzzi Bunz. I used to retail both of those back home.
While cloth diapering may sound confusing at first (or a lot of work), it really isn't. It's simple, just as convenient as disposables without the landfill issues and they're cute.
I use the diapers.com service from the US-- which is fantastic. But the one you mentioned doesn't look the same.
Good luck!

I tried several brands of cloth diapers, they leaked and dropped!
The dry bee one is good so far. I think it depends on how long you change the diapers and your baby's urine output. So far, i never hv any leakage for 4-5 hours. as for stool, I usually put a 2 way lining. Whenever she poo, juz throw it away.

I have FuzziBunz as well, but the insert isn't as absorbent as the BumGenius pocket diaper inserts, and some of my Fuzzis are poorly constructed with either problems with the snaps not closing properly and the varying widths for the crotch. I thought the BumGenius were far better quality - all the snaps work and each diaper is identical in dimensions. The only downside to my BumGenius are that my son can now rip the velcro closures open and take his diaper off. This is one reason why FuzziBunz or Wonderoos are great, because they use snaps that children can't easily undo.

Here in Dubai a cloth diaper group formed and there are monthly "Nappucino's" where someone hosts (coffee and biscuits) and people bring some of their diapers to show cloth diaper newbies and also sell some of the diapers they don't use anymore or ones that didn't work well for their children. It is a great way to check out the many options before spending money on the diapers. Once I get settled in Singapore I'd like to host one if there is enough interest. Perhaps a cloth diaper group already exists and I just haven't found it yet?
