WII - PAL&NTSC confusion???

Post by Scandinavia » Thu, 27 Dec 2007 9:27 pm

I was planning on buying a Wii console for my kids to use while in Singapore.

To what I understand Singapore is all PAL and so is Scandinavia?

When talking to the shops at FUNAN they tell me that they provide the US version with NTSC?

That just sounds so unlogical to me!

Why on earth would they sell an NTSC console in a country that uses PAL?

I guess this rules out buying a Wii and beeing able to ship bring it along back to Sweden later on?

Any other PAL country people out there who has thought about this mind twister?

Is there any gameshops in Singapore where one could rent a Wii?

NTSC is used in japan as well. some people might want to buy NTSC so that they can play games that are available in NTSC (japanese or US market).

dont be so tight and go get a wii ;)

IF its anything like the X-box, both versions are available, you just have to keep looking for the PAL model its out there! or should be very soon!

I've been playing it here in Taiwan, great fun

I don't understand this stuff !
Is PAL/NTSC still an issue with new TV's ?

I bought a TV and Wii in Singapore and it works fine ?
How come it works, if Singapore TV's are PAL, but the Wii is NTSC ?

I could see when viewing my appartment that it had a tube TV. That is an old one.

But sure...

Most new TV sets can handle both PAL/NTSC on some port.

I guess You had the fortune of connecting your Wii to a TV port that could handle it.....

correct me if i'm wrong, but both ntsc and pal..i dont think really link to the tv set. The ntsc and pal is actually to make it sort of regionly not free. Pal is for france and etc, ntsc is jap and us. So ntsc wii can play ntsc version of wii games. If u put in a pal game, the wii will wanna to update the wii, which therefore 'brick' ur wii if u update it (thats for mod wii)...So if u have a ntsc wii, u got to grab a ntsc game..=) In sg, normally is selling ntsc wii, cos outside normally is selling jap and us wii set..

1 thingy i wanna add, i'm not sure whether due to the pal and ntsc version of wii, but if u wanna plug ntsc wii into plasma or lcd tv (correct me if wrong again), u will need to buy another tv cable for that. AND if u r buying jap wii, u will need to buy another power adapter..cos the power is diff in jap and sg..
