bukit batok housing.......Pros & Cons?

Post by eastcoastUS » Wed, 08 Sep 2004 12:09 pm

Hello, our family will be arriving in Singapore in early January. Our child will be attending Singapore American School and my husband's office will be on Ayer Raja Crescent. From our initial research, it seems the bukit batok area would be convienient for both. What are some of your opinions of this area and specific housing areas. Also, what would be a nice Serviced Apartment to look into for the first few weeks of our stay? Thank you for any help offered.

I've lived in Bukit Batok since I was 7 and I love it here, I'm sure you will too! It's one of Singapore's more established new towns, has its own lot of cinemas, 2 train stations, shopping mall, sports complex, swimming pool, post office, most brands of banks, hawker centres, wet markets, foodcourts, supermarkets, police posts, community centres and a bus interchange. Plus it's surrounded by residential areas that include cheap flats to expensive condominiums, it's really one of the more accessible and convenient new towns in the west area.

I'd like to help you with the second question you posed, but honestly I don't know of any Service Apartments in Bukit Batok. You could try renting a hotel room first.

Have fun in Bukit B!

hi SG Female,

if i have to catch my company's shuttle at Jurong East MRT to travel to Jurong Island, is living in Bukit Batok still convenient? I looked at the MRT map, they're pretty close...but is it that close in reality?? or it should be cheaper and more convenient living in Jurong area?

thanks..

They are pretty close in reality, both these areas cost roughly about the same. Are you looking for a condo or a HDB flat?

Drop the admin at email at [email protected] and they'll be pleased to help you out

Jurong East MRT is next to Bukit Batok, it's very near. You could take a bicycle or rollerblades to get across from some areas in fact. But of course taking a train or bus will be the fastest. And Bukit Batok is tremendously convenient, there're tons of buses here, from the interchange to the numerous bus stops to interconnect the entire estate. You can live in Jurong East itself, but to be honest, Bukit Batok is a much more homely-commercial, less industrial-looking estate because Jurong is generally full of large trucks, huge factories/offices, dust and the only mall there is pretty run-down.
