ESOL in International School vs English in Local Schools

Post by tabehodai » Wed, 19 Dec 2007 9:11 am

My daughter is studying ESOL in an International School. I wanted to get her additional studying materials. I went to a local bookstore and looked at English materials for the local schools. I picked up some that are for my daughter's grade and they looked more difficult than what she is learning in school.

Is English taught in local schools at a higher level than that in ESOL international school? How does the ESOL standard compare with the English standard in local schools? Am I right to select local English guides that are one to two grades below her actual grade level?

Please advise. Thank you.
