Hi all,

well, I am just back from my first trip to Pulau Aur this year... we done a live on board, and the sea was still pretty rough... think I've never been that seasick before in my life !!!!

The diving was good though, Vis still not as good as during main season, as the sea is still too choppy due to the monsoon, but still had about 10-15 mtrs visibilty... so not too bad ;o)

I won't be diving again now until mid April, but would be cool to arrange a trip in April or May maybe?

btw, I am Advance with SSI, done 50 over dives and about to finish my rescue diver course, planning the Dive Con next ;o)

Hi Boston,

Think you should be able to get it. You need to do 2 theory classes, usually weekdays evening, then one or two pool lessons, depending on how comfortable you feel after the first, and then the open water dives. I think I pmed you the details of the dive shop I am with, he is very flexibel with timings. You can pm me if you need more details.

chairs,
the Concourse once all moved out now ! Not sure about all the new locations though, but met some of the guys before... in the end, a lot of the dive shops sort of arrange trips together, or at least all kinda know each other....
For Tech Diving and Nitrox I keep on hearing that the one I pmed you is one of the best in Spore, so go for it !

I only started diving last year in October, must admit, but got so hooked that I've done almost 60 dives by now, most in Malaysia and Singapore, some in Philipines.... Went to Thailand in December and got very ill and couldn't dive...

Any experience with Diving in New Zealand? i am going in two weeks.... more to see the country, but might squeeze in a dive or two ;o) hehe

Scuba gear?

Post by TavelCt » Thu, 03 Apr 2008 2:16 am

Hello everyone,
I am currently living in the US and will be moving to Singapore by the end of this year. I am also a certified scuba diver.

Question to those scuba divers who moved to Singapore - did you bring your favorite gear (regulator, bcd) with you when you moved? I am still thinking if I should sell them here in the US and then purchase such gear when I am over there in Singapore. Are scuba gear more expensive in Singapore?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, Asia and diving (moved to JB 5 months ago and completed my PADI Open Water last weekend on Tioman). OK, so techinically I'm not a Singaporean expat, but I can see it from my apartment - does that count?

Am really keen to do a lot more diving - for the social side of it mainly, but as I don't know any divers in the area, figured this would be a good place to find some like minded people.

Would be grate to find out where the best places to go for a weekend dive (job means I'm limited on leave in the week) and to get to know some like minded people.

Cheers
:D

If you already have gear you're happy with, why you would you want to sell them...?

I'm not sure about prices in the US, but gear in Singapore certainly seems cheaper than Europe. A few years back I paid just over S$1000 for a full kit of low-end (MK2/R190) Scubapro gear.
