software programe

Post by ddadada » Sat, 15 Dec 2007 9:15 pm

Anyone care to share about programming to a newbie. I just bought Plesk to organise my online business. But it's so hard to use it, at least for me.
Any tips or guideline would be great! I would need this programme for stuffs like mailing lists, sending of bulk emails etc. (Anything for an online business)

Thanks!

Plesk is the control panel you get with a hosting package!

You mean you have just registered a domain, and got the package included.

You will have to start building the website...or you can use the easiest method, website builder, should be included! There should also be a step by step manual..to show you how to do it! Unless it is some other plesk product you have?

Try the website, everything should be on there! All the tutorials you need.

you've got plesk as your admin panel.
from it you can set up your domain:

create a client,
attribute a domain to this client (your domain name)
setup a database
create the admin account for the database users
activate the ip address of your server,
create email accounts (eg: [email protected])

plesk is not hard to use since they have improved the panel over the time.
there are plenty of tutorials on swsoft website that ksl gave you.

otherwise jsut try : "plesk flash tutorial" or "plesk walkthrough" etcetc (be imaginative) and you'll find a wealth of info available for free.

by the way: you rent plesk for $5 a month that's one thing. 99% of the time that means you are running a dedicated server.

Are you sure this is the best choice?

You _could_ provide a bit more information. What type of hosting? Shared or dedicated server? What kind of OS? Linux or MS? What kind of DB support - MySql, MSSql, Postgres? Apache or IIS html server?

You need to have a basic understanding of how your folders and files are laid on on your server to be able to do anything.
