With my luck I would have sat next to him after he drank his 2 bottles of vodka. I'm fairly certain its against the policy of most airlines to let visibly drunk passengers on board.

The airlines should be consistent with their liquid rules, they are not. This makes it difficult for the passenger, who gets by with one airline, but when changing gets caught.
The airlines are not to allow passengers if they are visibly drunk or had a few too many. The article said this guy was expected to be able to go home in a few days. What a hangover he must have had.

Airports, airlines, security services and governments are getting to be a real pain in the butt with all these rules, they'll be asking passengers to strip naked for the duration of the flight next. :x
