I posted this query a few days ago and it got wiped out in the software crash that hit this website... so if anyone responded can they please do so again?
I wanted to know whether anyone can tell me the practical difference between Smartlipo and Vaser.
I am not fat fat, but want to remove or at least reduce the flabby flesh around chest/stomach/sides that moderate exercise can't seem to shift. So nothing drastic required - more sculpting, I am told. Both smartlipo and vaser can be used to 'sculpt', but why is Smartlipo 30% cheaper than Vaser? More risk, more damage, more downtime? I asked one doctor but his answer was so woolly i think he was trying to persuade me to go with just what he had in his clinic.
Anyone have any information?
Thanks
P

Hello from Young Medical Spa!
Dear Periwinkl,
I am honored to see someone posted a rely to you with our web site as a source for information! Let me summarize the difference between Vaser and SmartLipo.
SmartLipo is a laser fiber intended to melt small pockets of fat, the Vaser is ultrasound which can break up larger areas of fat.
The melted fat from SmartLipo can be absorbed by the body (although we suction it out), the Vaser pulverized fat should be suctioned out as it is pieces and not liquid.
From some physician's standpoint, the Vaser is a little more work because you're treating larger and thicker areas of fat, more time to do, more work to suction, etc.
At our practice, we typically perform both procedures on a patient to get optimal inch reduction results. We don't charge different or separately if we do SmartLipo, Vaser or both.
Good luck to you!
Nurse Paula

Dear Cancyl,
As with all aesthetic procedures, it's best you research the experience of the physician performing laser lipolysis.
Once the fat cells have been destroyed by either a laser lipolysis system (SmartLipo) or ultrasound (VASER) they are destroyed. Fat will not accumulate in that area again. Of course it depends on how thick the layer of fat is to begin with. If your physician removes only the top portion of fat leaving a layer untouched underneath, then those cells can continue to fill with fat. Typically after a procedure like this, if someone gains weight it's usually in other areas than were treated.
The lumps people sometimes experience is from adhesions that form between the skin and the removed fat layer as the skin reattaches after the procedure. These can be reduced by treating the area with a roller ball like the Omni Roller. Just minutes a day over the treated area can help adhesions from forming.
What I need to reiterate is that these procedures are made for spot fat reduction and not overall weight loss. If someone is overweight all over we try to encourage them to diet and exercise before their procedure.
I do hope I have answered your questions!
Regards,
Nurse Paula
