EPEC or LPR status?

Post by Ch33s3cak3 » Sun, 09 Dec 2007 3:47 pm

Hi all,

I want to find a job in Singapore and I am wondering if I should get EPEC or LPR status. Does anyone know which one is better (pros & cons)? Will employer care which one I have? I would really appreciate any feedback on this matter. Thank you.

The employer probably would choose the LPR over the EP as it's less paperwork for them. Costs is also in the long run more them as well but not so much in the first 2 years as the company contribution to the CPF fund is as a much lower rate before it kicks in at 14.5% of the salary. For most employers, if you have the knowledge & Experience that they need and no locals to fill it then the EP is easy. If your knowledge and experience is easily found then the employer may have a harder time getting an Employment Pass approved so then the LPR is the way to go. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Hi sundaymorningstaple, thank you for the quick reply. I guess LPR is better for the long run.
