Expat Contract / package Advice

Post by PIEMONTE67 » Thu, 06 Dec 2007 5:42 am

Hello

I am new to this Forum.

I ask for an oppionion or your thoughts from all you expats .
Would appreciate feed back.

I have been offered a job with a financial institution in Sinagpore .
I have worked for the same institution in euope 5 + years. I have been offered a package " expat " i.e my contract is with the head office and they offer a 3 year transfer to Singapore with an attractive renumeration + benefits . I am very happy with the renumeration details.
However there is a clause in the terms that says basically that the head office can recall you to europe within one month ( for any reason ) I realise that fixed term contracts are maybe not so common anymore but this formulation has caught my attention . I am studying the offer now but my question is : is this sort of clause standard in Expat Contract / Transfer ? This is all new to me have never been sent abroad to work before .

Thank you for feed back and information .

Regards

mks

I just signed a 2 year contract with my employer and it had the same language. I believe that it is standard legal language that is tacked on every contract to provide the firm with leverage in case things do not turn out the way it wants.
