Teaching at international schools - pay and families?

Post by just_looking » Sat, 13 Oct 2007 5:59 pm

What is the best way to look for work at International Schools? I live in Australia with my wife (also a teacher) and two young children. Do schools encourage/accept teaching couples with kids? What is the pay like? Any other info or resources would be great.

Your best bet would be to contact the schools directly as each has their own policies and procedures. You can look this sites main page or my links for the urls of the various International Schools here.

Like SMS said, contact the schools directly. His list give youa great start. If you wish to possibly start in January, it is possible, start contacting them now. Several of the schools that I am familiar with will gladly take husband-wife teachers and their children. Some schools will offer the children a free or reduced-fees education, this varies per school. Being Australian, you may want to consider the Australian school, based on NSW curriculum. If you want to get more of the international feel of Singapore, there are several International Schools to consider. You do want to be offered the job as an expat, therefore being on a package of housing, trip home, etc. this will vary per school. You pay will vary per school and what the package includes. Good luck! It is a great experience for you and your children.
