Best shopping places in JB

Post by mikek » Sat, 13 Oct 2007 7:55 am

We keep hearing about everyone going to JB for cheap shopping. Can anyone recommend the best places to shop?

We are interested in buying clothes, shoes and right now we need Halloween Candy.

I'm also interested in what other people find cheap in Malaysia.

On a final note, we'll be going during a weekend. Please let me know if there's a bad time to cross the border. I know the traffic can get very bad.

Thanks.

Hi mikek,

do you know so far when to go to JB? I am coming to Singapore oct. 26th for 2 weeks and would like to make a day-trip to JB as well? how many are you, maybe would be fun to explore the city with a group of expats 2gether!

Best Regards

Groceries can be got in Carrefour, Tesco or Giant all in JB and each comes with food stuff, clothes, CD's, Toys, electrical goods etc. all under one roof. For branded clothing then i don't know anywhere special...... there must be a couple of other shopping centres around but i never go.

In terms of when to head over....... as early as possible in the morning. If you don't get over the border by let's say 10am on a Saturday it could take you an hour or two to make it all the way. Personally i would avoid the weekend all together and the only reason i do head there is to hit the golf course, but this means me going through the Second Link that is always quieter.
