Not enough data. having said that the average "household" income in Singapore is $4500/mo and they lose 20% of that to the Central Provident Fund which you won't be paying into. Take it from there.

Hi,
I have just moved to Singapore with my working husband. To be honest 5K between 2 people a month might be very tight. But your wife will come to Singapore on a spouse visa, so that means she will be able to gain employment whislt staying in Singapore with you. Renting in Singapore may be quite expensive, ranging from 1800SG to about 5000SG, depending on location and facilities. But usually it is very rare to find places for less than 2300SG a month. And be prepared with about 7000SG for your initial rent contract (for the bond, 1 month in advance rent and the month rent).
Otherwise, transportation are very efficient and cheap. Food are extremely cheap.
- Transport, buses and MRT (the trains here) maximum fare for 1 way is about 2.50SG, adult.
- Food, average about 4-5 SG for a decent meal.

I agree 5k is more than enough. As for saving ,it depends what you are savin g for and how effectively you are saving it. You just have to worry about the rental, other than that living cost is not really that high in singapore, unless you thrive on luxury.

Cheers
