I lived in Singapore for about two years in high school and still look back as it being one of the more enjoyable places I've lived. I haven't been back since 1997 so I'd like to return.
Ideally, I'd like to go around Chinese New Year '08, February 7. If not that, then possibly later, like around President's Day (when I get a work holiday).
The problem is the money. I'm planning on going for two weeks and just can't afford a hotel for that long, especially in Singapore and considering what the airfare costs. I'm a web developer for a public library system and really don't make that much.
I haven't been able to find rooms for rent thus far online that weren't any better than hotels. All I'm really looking for is a room. Food, laundry, transportation and entertainment, I can take care of.
Does anyone have any ideas on where to find something like this?
