Hey people~!!!

This is my first post after following this thread for a few days. I'm feeling all hyped up for the interviews on the 20th. But yet, also rather concerned over some issues after reading about their strict selection criteria. Hope i can find some useful advice here.

Well, first of all, I'm a guy, to make things clear. Lolz..
This thing about scars... i had a thyroid operation few years back and it left a scar around where the two collar bones meet. Its about 10cm long, but thanks to a job well done by the surgeon, the scar isn't centipede-like. Its not very obvious, but at the same time, i wouldn't say you will miss it if we're talking 1 to 1. However, a collared shirt and tie would totally cover it up already. So, i was wondering if that would be a problem.

Another thing of concern. 4 months back, I was really fat. I weighed in at 127 kgs... But because of this dream to fly, I went on a diet and exercise regime, and today I'm 102 kgs. Still heavy, definitely, but because I'm standing at 1.83m and my bones are rather heavy, I wouldn't say I look fat now. Friends and family members i've asked so far either say i look normal or just a tad bit bigger than the average person, but not fat. So, now one thing is the weight problem. Would they directly cut me out bcuz of the weight, or would they at least gimme a visual assessment?

Then also, because of the weight loss, stretch marks started to appear along the tummy and waist, and a little bit on the shoulders. Damn man, I've got so many physical defects, I'm just hoping a miracle would take me through. Haha...

Anyone care to comment? Thanks

We're in the same boat!

Post by RexEupho » Thu, 11 Oct 2007 7:56 am

Hey Deep Blue!

Guess what, we're in the same boat.. really.. I'm also a guy. And i used to be really fat too! i was 14okg! and just like you, my dream of wanting to be a cabin crew motivated me to lose weight and now i weigh ard 95kg. My height is ard 185-187 and just like you, i dont look too fat, but according to BMI, still overweight. So I'll say dont worry, just try out for it. This will be my virgin attempt at trying out for SIA. Of course i'm ready to face the consequences should they were to start bombarding me about my weight issue. But again, you'll never know until you try right?

I've been wanting to try out for this position since last year, bt put it on hold to improve on myself first. That included signing up for a gym membership and starting to take good care of my skin. My face used to be FULL of acnes, however, i seeked treatment from skin centre and now my skin conditions are much better. There are still acne scars, but i'm sure a good concealer and some bronzing powder will hide it well.

So i'm advising you, just go for it!! If they happen to reject you because of your weight,(touchwood!) at least you know the reason and you can then improve on it and then try again next time. Its better than worrying abt it and regretting not trying out, right?

Anyway, how old are you?

Yupz...

if you don't try it, means 0% chances for you...

if you try for it, definitely it would be higher than 0%...

Go for it!! take it as an experience even if you don't make it.. and you get to make new friends there..
