Feedback on OFS and Eton house Orchard Campus for a shy kid

Post by mothbhai » Thu, 27 Sep 2007 10:23 am

Hi,

Need some advice. My son is going to a Montessori but even after 8 months there, he hasnt found a comfort zone there. He loves going to school, he has made friends, but he doesn't interact with the teachers. He doesn't answer their questions and becomes really quiet. He is a shy kid who takes a few minutes to warm up to strangers. So 8 months is a long time for him not to warm up. He goes to to a gym class and an arts class where he is very outgoing and interactive. So I am wondering if he needs a smaller, more cosy environment for him to open up. Also teachers who will accept his temperament and find a way to encourage him to participate more (his current teacher is putting a lot of pressure on us about his not answering questions in the class, she's even suggesting holding him back in pre-nursery with 18-24 month old kids). He is quite talkative outside school and has age appropriate academic and social skills. We are considering OFS and Etonhouse orchard since they are close to our place. Any feedback would be most helpful. If you know of any other schools that would be good for my shy 3 year old, please do let me know.

I wouldn't call OFS small, over crowded more like it. Of the two you have mentioned, I think Eton House would be the better option.
