i wish it wasn't so, but doctors try to squeeze in as many patients as they can into a working day... the practical realities of paying off our humongous student loan (2 degrees, and possibly a third for post-graduate studies) and other financial responsibilities result in us working mostly for our debts.
what's more, along the way, the altruistic mentality that most modern-day med students have gets sucked into a spiral of haves and have-nots... disappearing almost forever.
until they become old and get aware of their morality and try to do more pro bono stuff. too late, i say. too late... !
