Ipod involves using Itunes to "manage" your songs. Can be a bit of a pain to get to grips with. Lots of features play lists, album covers etc.
It also means your Ipod is more or less "bound" to 1 PC for updating and again managing your music files. There are ways around this but it's a pain.
If you indeed just want an easy solution then the SONY ( or most generic MP3 players) is the way to go.
You might even want to look at using a mobile phone/mp3 combination. With memory cards quite affordable now you can have a serious collection of music on your phone.
I'm currently using the N76 from Nokia. Its a crap phone and the chrome is flaking off but it does do a grand job of being a radio and an MP3 player all in one. It also has standard 3.5mm jack for head phones so you can plug "normal" head phones in and not just the typical ones that come with the phone.
Good luck

depends on the memory size.
At least you could load a few on and get an idea of the options you have. If you really use it a lot then it may be worth getting a better phone or a stand alone MP3 player

You might like the small Creative Zen Stone Plus. It has a 2 GB memory and FM radio and it's really easy to use. It comes in a number of funky colours. I have one myself and quite often use that instead of my iPod as it takes up a lot less room. There is a Creative shop at Marina Square.

ChixChix - if you want to buy an "I pod", then you're pretty much stuck with Apple since only Apple makes iPods, Sony doesn't make ipods...

I thiink that the sony will not play MP3's and will only play WMA tracks, you get the software with the sony to convert them, "sonic stage " I think its called.
so its not so simple.
