English lessons in singapore for french beginners

We've just arrived in Singapore and my wife is looking for english lessons: let's say she has a good basic knowledge of english, and wants to improve vocabulary and conversation.

Do you have advices about good english courses, prices, etc...

We've heard a lot about the british council: is it OK? Others alternatives, good experience, etc...
