South Africa VISA

Post by skimilk » Fri, 21 Sep 2007 1:24 am

Hello,

I'm planning on a surfing holiday in Nahoon in East London at the end of the year and I'm currently working on my own itinerary. I found out I would need a VISA to enter the country though.

Has anyone here applied for an SA visa? Could you perhaps share your experience in terms of processing time, required documents, etc. Is it fairly easy to get one?

I've read about some horror stories where it took forever for the consulate to process applications with the applicants consequently having to cancel flights/trips and losing money in the process.

Further, a "proof of booking of airline ticket" is apparently required and I'm a little bit wary to go ahead and confirm my flight although I have made some cursory arrangements, as I won't be able to refund the total cost should my application be denied.

They also mentioned a "proof of financial means." A credit card is usually sufficient everywhere else is it also the same in this case?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. :)
