Can I get Employment Pass with a senior high school degree?

Post by guanxj » Fri, 14 Sep 2007 12:23 pm

Hi, My employer offers me 200K Singapore Dollar for annual salary as a product trader. I have ten years of experience in this field. But I dont have any college or university degree. Can I apply for the employment pass visa and get approved? I worry about this. Thank you for your help.

Can only speak from experience. Husband had an employment pass without anything higher than his High School degree. He was experienced in his profession, though.

I work for an investment bank and do not have a degree - in fact I flunked quite badly at school - you know booze fags and all that partying was far more important at that age!
I do however have a proffesional qual, FSA (UK reg body) and ten years experience in derivatives and sailed through the EP application process with no questions asked in no less than 2 weeks so I wouldn't worry at all if I were you.

It sounds like you make enough and have enough experience. But, take the self test.

The self test is a piece of cake if you are being offered 84K p.a. or more (7K/mo basic salary). The requirements for a P1 visa is a Basic Salary of 7K/mo or more and is NOT degree dependent. A P2 pass IS degree dependent however. The analogy is that is an employer is willing to pay you that much money, you have the necessary experience to forgo having a piece of paper that only says you are theoretically capable of doing the job.
