Hi - I'm moving to Sing in the next couple of months. It seems like when I make calls over there, the reception is pretty poor (scratchy, lag time). These calls may be to cell phones. Can anyone let me know if the Skype / VOIP / other options' call quality is better than what I've experienced? Thanks!

so far so good for me using msn/VoIP/skype. sometimes it all depends on the quality of your provider, line speed, contention ratio and QoS of your setup.

I agree with others.

Skype. Skype. Skype. 8-)

I have used Skype in the USA (east coast, midwest and west coast), Spain and Bolivia. I used it to make calls between Spain & Bolivia, between both of those countries and the USA and between the USA and China.

I have used it for computer to computer calls, which is free. I have used it for computer to land line & cell phone calls which has minimal costs. You have to buy time in advance whcih is easy.

Quality always seemed to be as good as my internet connection.

I would imagine it works well in Singapore. I find out when I get there. :D

Skype is probably the best quality VoIP software, but Yahoo Voice is 50% cheaper - if you are making a large volume of calls, or price is paramount - go with Yahoo.

Calls to the US are $.01/minute - Skype calls to the US are $.02/minute

Some other countries the difference is more substantial - ex Venezuela - $.04/minute on Yahoo, $.10 on Skype
