Hi all,
Is the employment pass (P1, P2, Q1) a physical piece of paper that I need to have in my hands when I turn up in Singapore ?
If I told immigration that i'm here to work in Singapore and I did'nt have this permit, would my entrance into Singapore be refused ? I may be overly cautious but I don't want this to happen and my impression of the immigration authorities is that they are very strict.
Also where would I pick up this pass, from my employer ? Would it be sent to me in my home country from the Ministry of Manpower ?
Thanks

You won't get this pass until you reach Singapore. You may be sent a copy of an IPA (In-Principle Approval) or maybe not. In any case you would be coming in on a normal tourist visa initially and then this would be converted once all the formalities have been cleared with MOM, ICA and the MOH (HIV Testing).

Hi sundaymorningstaple,
Thanks for providing this info.
Just to clarify, as a British Citizen I can just turn up in Singapore as a tourist (once EP application has been approved) and get the Employment/Dependent passes stamped locally in Singapore.
regards,

Absatively posilutely!
Just waltz right in on a tourist visa and after getting sorted with ACRA, MOM, ICA you will get a EP stamp in your passport and Bob's your Uncle!
