Hmm, I wrote in and got a reply but I stated clearly I only have 4 O level passes and I'm currently taking a dip from private institution. Really hope I wont waste my time in going for the interview...

Wonder if they really read through the write in...

No one is underestimating the capabilities and potential of ITE graduates. However I believe not many of those in Higher Nitec have achieved at least 5 O level credits. Hence the chances for an ITE graduate are slim or perhaps none unless you've got the 5 O level credits.

Well, you could still try if you wish. But in any case you’re unsuccessful, it is best to upgrade yourself in academic wise instead of pondering if people are underestimating ITE graduates. After all most job in Singapore now requires a minimum of diploma. Anyway you can always try for SilkAir. They do accept N level graduates.

No offence in whatsoever. I am just sharing my point of views.

Hey ya oohlala is rite!~
hey maggie as what i read through ya thread, you sounds really have that passion into it, but let me tell you one thing what some of them said are definately right. Though u're ITE GRAD, thats not enough its aint same as O level. I dun think you really know much bout the standard education curricular in Singapore. For malaysian their education system is not the same as in here... SPM is means O level not N level. . If u have that courage to pursue whatever u think u can achieve why not after u grad frm ITE join in Poly then. Get your Diploma first?? Ya its true even ITE holder can go through Universities. It depends for those who still can afford to go on why not, hey babe its not end of the education after ITE... I assumed if u really wants this job go on further ya studies. Why wait....

I support you as i can see you really got that passion, but dun waste your time by sending ya application, cause let me tell you this ever i heard before this one particular person which i didnt knw who is she/he, an ITE grad Higher Nitec too. You know what once they see ya cert all they tell you [OK YOU CAN JUST LEAVE YA APPLICATIO FORM HERE, FOR OUR REFERENCE....] Then they ask to leave... Thats all....

aWW...COME ON.... u can do it too~ trust me further ya studies then for sure u can achieve it....aite~

Hi Maggie,

Through your post, i guess you are pretty well-spoken & know what you want in life...if this is something you want to venture into, u need to work towards in meeting their prerequsite..

SIA set the standard, only they know if they will take in Nitec...but from the experiences of many here...they are just telling u what they have heard & seen..

Still, u can try...& the ultimate choice is up to SIA.A degree definitely doesnt confirm u a place in SIA...if one does not meet their expectation of a SQ girl....when they are accessing u in the rounds, they are definitely not looking at yr qualification....but then again yr certs are a stepping stone for u...

I hope u will eventually be able to fly despite all these odds...
Anyway, u r only 20...so young...u have a long way ahead of u!
:D

Hi bishbish,

In the application, did you put your height as 1.58 or 1.57?

Cheers!

Do not underestimate someone w/wout a better Qualifications

Encouragements is why I look into this forums.

I wish to point out that I did accept their academic requirements, I was asking for encouragements. Not questions. At the same time, to stop this misunderstanding. To those whom he/she may concerns that I did not want to go back to sch / have ideas I can't make it back to school and think that Nitec have to go through Higher Nitec to Poly*
(I wish you to have understand more before you comments)). Before i continue my statements, I also wish to declare that I am NOT going to show off, or to prove "O" level cert equivalent to "ITE" holders. Infact, I still think that ITE Cert, is a step higher then "O"Level cert which depends. :( that I am have to share my story since some strangers has misinterpret me.

As I did NOT mention before, right after my grad from "ITE Nitec" I was offered a place to study in Temasek Poly but I rejected the offer to pusure my first dream as "Motion Graphic Designer" at Jan 2006. Why offered to go TP without going through Higher Nitec* Well, ITE do have various of courses and they were splited into Higher Nitec and Nitec. But somehow they did nt mention/declare "why" that some courses may not need to proceed to Higher Nitec to Poly. "Pls Do Check Out Polys For More Info If You're Interested." Furthermore, I was offered a place at Lasalle, and Uni Art of London in UK to further study. I rejected to UK to pursue my dream, a Degree in art, because of my family issues,(do not wish to declare)) I respect my family which is also why I put my feets down to my second dream to focus on becoming a Flight Attendant. (doesn't mean, I don't appreciate.)) I am as happy to move on.

You may choose not to believe, but to those who do, I hope this statements somehow enlighten you or brings out the correct msg to you and weather it encourage you to become a FA or not. I Do still think that Qualifications is still as important! BUT having the knowledge is the key* Or It's just an empty cert you're holding, be it Diploma/ITE/O/N levels**

To Ce|T, I truely appreciate the encouragements/advice you've been giving.
Thanks for the wings* :D

yeah, maggie! you go gurrrl. hehe. anyway, education is education. once we're dead, we leave it all behind. so.. yeah. we should just make most of what we have in life. its our prerogative, our right of saying. we should not let anything validate us.. like fame, wealth or material things. take care now. all the best in wtvr you do! holla. :)
