Where can I rent DVD / Blu-Ray Discs?

Post by audiojunky » Tue, 28 Aug 2007 9:54 am

Hi,

What's the best place (in terms of move availability) in Singapore to rent DVD and Blu-Ray discs?

I've seen a few stores that rents our DVDs but they have a rather limited collection - nothing like Hollywood or Blockbuster movies.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I think Video-ezy is the best choice .... People also buy a lot of VCDs here.

DVD's delivered

I've heard there is a company that delivers DVD's to your home - you pay a flat fee per month - anyone know anything about that? Is it worth it? Good service?

I don't know the name, but vivo city 1st floor at the back (Near the ocean) there is an exit to HarbourFront and the shop there sells blu-ray and HDdvd discs - not a massive selection, but they do have some of the latest blockbusters - I was in there at the weekend

Hi, there are at least a couple of those....

1) HomePal
http://www.homepal.com.sg/

2) HollywoodClicks
http://www.hollywoodclicks.com/

I'm currently using the second one, which is okay, but not fantastic in terms of the selection. I've heard that HomePal may have a wider selection, but I've just been too lazy to make the switch. :)

I was doing a Google search for blu-ray discs (which is what brought me here) and it seems that those Play kiosks are now renting out (a very small number of) Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs. You'll have to book them online before collecting them at the kiosks though.

Happy watching, folks!

actually play.sg is quite expensive, but might be worthwhile if you're only going to rent the thing and watch it immediately then return straightaway cause they rentby the hour.

i for blu ray i usually rent mine from a shop in river valley, valley point. the place's called canton video, on the first floor. they get in titles fairly fast and quite open to bringing in titles if you request for them.

There's actually a hidden gem - Rida Video Centre - 587 Bukit Timah Road, #02-17 at Coronation Plaza. Paid $100 for 19 blu-ray movies rental - best value for money so far - given the wide range & availability of latest blockbusters. They are starting to import ultra-HD blu-rays!

I always enjoy my chat with them - assist my decision-making of what to rent. I will double-check their recommendations with ratings of rottentomatoes website to snipe my bag of movie titles.

The old school gem was established in 1985 & every visit offers a nostalgic & homely feel - no kidding, the sincerity, candid & warmth of the conversations are ultra-legit.

i'm not wholly sure why your reply was so late...

BUT it has reminded me that i have credit at rida.

unfortunately i will likely have forgotten it again by the time i am next in singapore.

it's old school. not sure about the rest though... may depend on who is manning the counter.
