Hi,
I know my subject is more about health than parenting and family but your chats seem more serious than in the Health index where they only talk about plastic surgery.
My husband and i are thinking to have a baby but before starting i would like to make sure everything is ok. Should i see a gynecologist or a general practioner?
I am a bit lost, in France i was seing a gynecologist once or twice a year, did regularly pap and blood tests, ecographes, etc. Then in Australia the routine visits are done with a general practioner, who didn't do anything except for a pap test a year ago.
I have just arrived last sunday and cannot find my answer on internet.
do you also have any suggestion for a good doctor or medical centre?
Many thanks in advance
Delphine

Hi Delphine, it would be preferable to see a good obgyn and if you pm me I could give you a good referral. The GPs here are very general, more for coughs, cold and do not specialise. Since you are hoping to conceive, its better to go see a gynaecologist.

It would probably be best to see a obgyn who will go over your previous medical history, do a quick ultrasound to make sure everything is in order and will probably give you some prenatal vitamins prior to conception (folic acid and that sort of thing). I recently had my second baby here in Singapore and had the most fantastic doctor at Gleneagles Medical Center. Her name is Dr. Brenda Low (Tel:67347340). Absolutely fantastic - and lovely bedside manner.
I was seriously considering baby #3 just to have her be my doctor again - but my husband would kill me
!
She also does general pap check-ups too.

Hi! I can recommend Dr. Selina Chua at Women's Specialist, Mt. Elizabeth. She came HIGHLY recomended. She does everything women related. I just settled in Singapore and gave birth here. She followed my pregnancy, gave birth to my baby, did pap smear and family planning. She is an excellent gynae and you never have to worry about anything with her.

Hi cbavasi
Would you mind send me a PM too on the costs? I am expecting with baby #2 and trying to figure out which gynae to go with. How long usually do you have to wait on your visit? All the ones recommended to me seem to have a 1.5 - 3 hours wait. Not sure it is the norm here with all good gynae.
Thanks.

Hi cbavasi,
Would you mind sending me a PM too on the costs? We would like to have a second child here in Singapore.
And Gleneagles is a perfect location as we are in the east.
Thanks in advanced.

I took cbavasi's advise and saw Dr. Brenda Low at Gleneagles. She's wonderful and truly does have a "lovely bedside manner" as cbavasi put it. Dr. Low's professional yet open demeanor puts you at ease; I found it easy to talk to her. She seemed to have openings for new patients and there is little to no wait time in her clinic.

Does anyone know what does it mean if you're the subject of Police Interviews and the file reads Routine File ?

Routine file should be the SOP ie: interviews, statements all recorded in a file
