Interested in comments from expats who have experience with working in a local Singaporean company. Anything to consider? The advantages and disadvantages? Comments and tips?

It will be a hard thing to do. You don't know Chinese. You don't know the culture. You will be an outsider. Much local business is based on relationships, and connections are tight knit. While not impossible, it is usually easier to build a network within the MNC community who already hire a significant number of expats. Of course, if you have specific, highly wanted skills, the game changes. I know a guy who is working for a company that is locally owned, with Singaporean investors and he is working there because he has extensive experience in the field.

I also know one very well. ME!
Matter of fact my last 2 employers! Course being here a quarter of a century certainly helps I must admit.

SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers

Worked for a local company, worked with locals for MNCs and now working for myself.
Anything that includes working with locals I would avoid if possible, when not being a local.
For reasons mentioned by Strong Eagle.
Frustrations abundant, no clue about their culture, no logic, no rationale, you'll get screwed from all sides.
