East Coast Beaches

Post by keepitreal » Mon, 13 Aug 2007 5:23 am

Hi
What are the beaches like on the east coast? Is the water clean, how clear is it, is the sand relatively clean? The pictures I see tend to show freight ships in the distance which does not look particularly pleasant. I have also not seen much talk on this forum about the beaches in Singapore so just looking to get an idea of what they are like.
Thx

The beaches around Singapore are not very suitable for swimming. They are not clean. Usually people prefer taking a short ferry to Bintan, Batam in Indonesia or somewhere in Malaysia for enjoying the sea. I only tried once to swim in Sentosa island Siloso beach. I didn't enjoy it. I don't suggest any beach in Singapore island, but there should be some small islands close to Singapore mainland where the water is cleaner.
With my kind regards

East Coast beaches do have changing rooms, showers, etc, so apparently there are some people who think that people can swim there :)

But there aren't so many sandy beach areas, and there are not really good for sunbathing, etc. The water is muddy and sometimes dirty, so not many people are swimming; the whole area is rather a park with a sea view than a beach
