Back in June I got my D80 kit (body + 18-135 zoom) + SB-600 flash at Sim Lim square for about S$2100 with international service warranty. So far it's been working fine. The prices given by the shops there fluctuate a lot so I would recommend quoting the prices extensively before you go for a purchase.

Good luck!

I was recommended Alan Photo.

the guys were pretty cool and I had a good price.

check the warranty + Gst before you buy.
they have a tendency to quote you exc gst if you are an ang moh and then tell you you can claim it at the airport...

you can still get a discount yes.
especially if you buy lenses (given their price that would be insane not to haggle)

they have 2 shops: one in Sim Lim the other one in Funan.

I was also recommended Cathay Photo in Peninsula Plaza

Hello,

I would like to buy a Canon EOS 30D Body. I checked the internet for the best price and looked at the common shops (via internet) at singapore. Now I'm very confused because the camera is about 250 S$ more expansive than in Germany for example. Is this possible? Or are the prices I found (about 1900 S$) only the starting-point for further haggling?

Thank you for answering.

Nicole

Canon just released the new 40D. The pre-generation 30D price should drop significantly soon.

As for the price in Singapore I find it a little cheaper than in Europe; plus you can get a little money back if you take it out of the country.

If you want a Canon right nowI would recommend a 400D though ;) Cheaper and better img quality than 30D.

I hope so... But I can't risk it!

The best price I found ist 1800 S$ before GST. No getting little money back and also more expensive than in Germany.

I don't want to buy the 400D - it isn't better than the 30D, believe me.
