lolitaa wrote:Hi,

I went for Saturday's interview and got through.

1st Interview: -
We were told to introduce ourselves by just sharing our name, age and occupation/ what we're currently doing and nothing else, not even jobscope and hobbies. The interviewers will then post different Qs to each individual according to the candidate's profile written on the application.
Passing rate: 4/10

3rd Interview: -

I was asked about my previous working experience as a customer care consultant, what I have been doing, whether I think my chances of getting in is high, the job scope of a FA, how ready I am to get into this job, then followed by the reading of the passage.
My groupmates left before I came out, therefore I can't make up the passing rate.

My WCT will be on this Wednesday, 29 Aug. The paper and information given to me only indicate that we will be going through the water confidence test.

I see that the above post have mentioned that, we might be having our management interview as well.
May I know whether you guys were informed about the management interview upon receiving the date for your WCT?
Thanks in advance!
Hey! I'll be going for my WCT on 29th Aug too.
I'm also wondering if the management interview would be on the same day if we managed to get thru WCT anot. If so, we would have to wear formal then.

My 1 vs 1 interview was slightly similar to lolitaa, just that I do not have to read any passage. As saturday's interview was my 2nd attempt, the lady also asked me what makes me got through to the 1 vs 1 interview now. Instead of getting booted out during the Kebaya Fitting round.

I'm not too sure about the passing rate too.

Anw, GOOD LUCK to those gg for WCT! :)

hi starlit3z,
the guy who said the mgmt was moz prob on the same day as WCT also said tat on the prev walk-in. But it moz prob WON'T be on the same day. Thus, you should at least try to dress smart formal for WCT and trust me, there'd b people wearing 'beach wear' there too. Oh, and try not to wear 2pc as SIA's very particular abt that. Cuz my cousin's an ex-trainer at SIA and she told me that... good luck!

And, WCT, what is the appropriate attire? Cos i heard frm one of the girls whom ask the guy (the one giving the letter for WCT), and he mentioned that it would be possible to have Mgtment interview on the same day if we pass the WCT! Thus, i am puzzled on what should i wear!!

:o

Its the way u answer, not wat the answer is. There's no such thing as a 'perfect answer' . They just wanna see how confidently you can answer them. There is no right or wrong. And body language also plays an important role. How you sit while you wait for ur turn 2 speak? do you fidget? Do you sway or move abt when you answer? and stuff like that. Even after you spoke, they will still observe you closely! SO REMEMBER, don't go lookin for any 'right answer'. Just answer whichever comes to mind CONFIDENTLY and with a SMILE! But of coz, don go off-track and most importantly, keep ur speech short and simple!

Overalls??? Hmm...not too sure wat is it they are referring to. But as far as i know, the guys would go topless during WCT. Then it's either they wear briefs or board shorts. There were lifevests but that was bout it. Prob they kinda changed the procedures now...hehe.

NO!!! The gurls dun jump in the kebaya...haha! Prob during training but not during WCT. They would also go in swimming suit.

Oh, i read from another post where it was mentioned they guys were asked to go for face check! Did u get it?
No i didnt have to go for skin test. I'm very happy i didnt have to.. so did the other 2 dat made it. Gosh, I am surprised. Any other guys out there had to go skin check??!

I wanted to wear my 2 piece too, as I thought it shouldn't post a big problem for the confidence criteria. They should be focusing on our confidence and abilty when we plunge into and get out of the water right? I went for my WCT in bikini last yr, like me, many of my grp girls who were in 2 piece got through as well.

Post by confidenceless » Mon, 27 Aug 2007 10:04 pm

There will be skin check again during WCT?
How strict will the skin check be? Is it like the one during Kebaya Fitting?

not as strict as kebaya... coz i had some mild acne scars which could be covered by make up. but when i went, i removed all my make-up b4 jumping and skin check and got thru. Guess they juz wanna see if you have regular breakouts dat cnt be controlled. Otherwise its alright...

just some info to share... if wan to avoid the water touching ur face during the jump, here is something i learned during my swim class (dunnoe if it will work out right for u but no harm trying).. before u jump, cross ur arm ard ur crest.. and when u are about to reach the water (maybe when u leg touches or somewhere even closer.. spread ur arm wide with force as u hit the water... this would avoid ur face from being cover with water... hope it works out.. cos that what i learn during surviour.. hehe...

good luck..

So most probably people will get through if they do not have any tattoos or major scars ?

hi i have a question, iwent for SQ intw on 15july i have asthma and i declare it throughout the 6 rounds of interview. But managing to go thru till the end and after going thru all that and then being given the reason that they cant accept me cos of my medical problem is very heartbreaking even thou i told them dat i had not had any attack since last year.

[but my asthma is very mild. i have been playing sports and representing my school for netball since primary school. and now im 21. and my asthma will only tigger if i indulge myself wif very cold and very very sweet food like ice kachang and chendol.] i din tell the SIA doctor this, MAYBE i sould have emphasis on this huh?

sometime telling the truth doesnt pay, but as dOvee had mention, i noe that they could terminate me just like that if they found out abt my condition.

i was advice by my neighbour who is a senior in SIA to not tell but i went against him thinkin i should tell the truth but then i ended up not getting the job.
its just dat i AM scared that i could get an attack wif the change in climate, (i dun noe cos i hav nvr flown b4) and if i nvr tell them, they would eventualli noe since i hav to take MC rite?

on one hand to tell and risk not getting a job at a prestigious airline and on the other hand dun tell, werk for a few months suddenly my attack came back and get fired..

so the qns is can i try for SQ agn and emphasis that my attack are super MILD and risk being stuck at the medical agn or just try agn at other airline like etihad and emirates but not declaring my condition?

anyone?

Your medical record is already exist with SQ... i think even you try next time for SQ without declaring, they'll still be able to check from the past record... My friend was also booted out at mgmt round... she was shot with many questions abt her asthma but i think probably she wasn't able to ans them that's why she was out ba..

LEINA,
Not declaring your medical condition means only one thing; you would be a fool to yourself since if you have a serious re-occurrence people may not know what to do as they may not recognize what is wrong with you. This could of course be potentially dangerous and you would be found out and sacked. Then your problems would begin; try finding another job when any potential employer is going to find out you were dismissed from previous position.

I was worked with a man who didn’t tell me or any of my colleagues he suffered seizures. The inevitable happened; another guy working with him turned round from his desk and found him staring into space apparently life-less. The impression was he had died and the employee called an ambulance. That wasn’t necessary as all one had to do was give him pain by doing for example pricking an earlobe.

You can see for yourself just how much trouble and consternation you may cause. Somewhere in these pages it has been mentioned that somebody was accepted with asthma but policies change all the time. You will just have to accept reality, that is there are certain jobs you will never be able to do (you are not alone).

Don’t invite problems it isn’t worth it.
