i think not only speaking well plays part.. its all about how you bring yourself.. the last interview i failed at skin check.. this time round,i failed at the first.. if i ever get to pass, does that mean that my english has no problems?

but the fact that i failed this time.. does this mean that my english has a problem then? well,i guess it really depends.. there's many people who passed all the rounds but were asked to take up an english course..

so i think if they really want you, your flaws can be corrected.. :D another attempt next time..!!

be confident about yourself.. dun put yourself down.

try again. like what some people say on the forum. lucks plays a major part too. maybe you will get lucky the next time round?

practise what you gonna say in front of the mirror. i am sure it will help..

i tried many times too... but never say die.. never give up...

cheers..
it is easy for you to say that...not all people can speak well like some people...i know myself too well
hi.. i believe any flaw can be corrected it really depends on how much you are willing to change.. honestly though i might be from english educated family, i dun speak very well and sometimes my slibing would even laugh at me for being the stupid one in the family.. therefore to prove they are wrong, i really practise hard.. now i wouldnt say i am perfect but i definately did see an improvement.. every human have weakness no one is born perfect so we have to work had and turn our weakness into our strength.. it isnt easy but we got to try... believe in you can and you will

not trying to make fun... but even PRC (chinas) are trying to speak perfect eng and many succeed.. y cant u?

i fail my english os two times already  ...i am advised to give everything up :( ...i get a low D for my language and communication (powerpoint presentation) in school..i am up to this limit already  ...i am out of basic standard...even if i prefer to work in air, i had consider to be glamourous by working on land(hotel, restuarant).. you do the same type of work too..except you get a higher pay by SIA.. if you think the first round is so easy, who will want to give up easily? if i pass the first round, i won't pass 2nd round due to comparison in my english qualifications..

it depend on how you see it...it might be easy or difficult to some people..different people, difference perpective and thoughts.. :?

My WCT is on the 29th August 2007.
When I think about it, I'm so afraid. Gosh! Hows the passing rate for WCT? Other than jumping into the water, what else will be done on tt day?

Erm, the passing rate for my group was consider quite ok.
The first round, there are 4 girls including me who got through to the 2nd round. 1 vs 1 interview, from what I know it's only 2 girls including me.
Dun worry...i'm sure u'll do fine. The passing rate for WCT is generally the HIGHEST among all the rounds of interviews. Usually, they'll only eliminate 2-3 ppl. So yeah...dun worry so much :)

If i'm not wrong, after ur swim...u r to walk towards the HR staff who will be standing sum distance away. Once u're there, she'll ask u to make a 360 degrees turn...hehe. Not too sure wat they're checking for actually...but i suppose it's for tattoos and stuff. After dat, they r gonna retake ur height and weight measurement. N that's the end of the entire WCT :D U'll then be notified if u r shortlisted for the final interview...

Wow...the passing rate is not that high huh. Like 4/10 for the first round. I mean, everybody is thinking that they r pretty desperate for crews but yet...nothing seems to indicate that. Hmmm......
hey 12345, do you know wat contributes to failure in water confidence test?? i made it to WCT round. mine is on the 4th september coz i'm a guy. No tatoos/scars, i'm quite flabby but can look presentable when wearing shirt. actually, WCT is the round that I fear most, fear comes from my quite fat body shape. it helps when u say the highest go thru but i'm afraid i will fall under the few dat don't.

my 1st round only 3 out of 10. lucky for guys, no skin check watsoever!
Yeah, I'm wondering what contributes to the failure for WCT too.
Anw, the elimination is on the spot or have to wait for the results?

spoken and written english is different. i failed my eng during my o lvl too.. but i retook and i make sure i pass..
well no doubt diff ppl have diff perpective but percective can be change.. if you chose not to help yourself den no one in the world can help u.
first round may not be easy to go thru but thru determination, thru efforts... nthing is really impossible if you are toking abt a non-physical aspect... even so... it could be made possible now..

sorry.. if u are pessimistic. it just my tots.. the more i cant the more i want the more i will try. cos at the end of my road, i remain happy at least i knew i once tried

hello people!

please don't put yourselves down or be pessimistic! there are people clear all the rounds and become an FSS/FS in their first attempt, but those are the lucky people! if you go around asking, a lot take more than 1 or 2 attempts, just like Ms ng, she was only selected on her 10th attempt! and all the 10 attempt was in one single year. everytime, she improve herself and she was thinking, "why can't i be an FSS? it's not like the FSS are way much better than me!"

like i always say, you never know until you try and nobody can give up on you unless you've given up on yourself! if you don't think you're the one they are looking for, how are you going to go for the interviews and convince them that out of the hundreds and thousands who applied, YOU are THE ONE? right? :D

it's my forth attempt, and i didn't clear it too! round one is such a killer for me, and i think it's because of my weight. so i'm gonna lose weight and be in their 18-22 bmi range to increase my chances. never give up! surprisingly, there are lesser and lesser people trying out. like, it used to be hours and hours of waiting but now, you get to the first round within 15 mins. and they are recruiting almost monthly.

so if you're really serious about this, go try everytime! i don't believe there's something so very wrong with you that you cannot make it every single time!

luck plays a part here, too. there's no definite in everything and when it comes to things like interviews, everything is very subjective to the interviewer!

don't give up, if this is really what you want. gambate everybody!! :D

the elimination is on the spot, got paper means you're through, no paper means sorry please try again! i think they are looking out for body shape, tattoos and scars. not too sure but that's what i heard from the girls who cleared! hope it helps. don't worry too much about it! :D

 if it's such a case, that probably means that the people are either trying for the sack of trying or they are just not serious about it. then them not coming wouldn't be a loss.

hi,
as long as it's covered by the kebaya, it's of no concern. so don't worry =)

downtown, don't be discouraged. perhaps you may want to practise speaking in eng more often. you do not need to use any bombastic words. simple sentences but fluent. just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

anyway, i tried today and was booted out after the skin check. it's my can't-remember which attempt but i'm so not going to give up as yet. lol

Don't give up, girls!

Hey dear,
don't worry too much about the spots :) Generally, if they can be covered when wearing the kebaya, the lady checking won't penalize. If you feel uneasy, can try using a waterproof concealer to help. :D

Good luck!

Hey WoofAndQuack,

Well, i guess the obvious reason would be a lack of confidence while jumping and also when u're in the water. Another aspect would be tattoos but since u're cleared from that, u shud do well. I'm not too sure if they do look at body shape for the guys...but i think height would be another factor. Coz they will re-measure u after the WCT, n prob would eliminate those who struggle to reach the min requirement.

Dun worry too much about ur body shape. I'm sure as long as u're not very flabby...it's still acceptable to them. Nothing is certain in SIA i would say. During my time, there was a guy with TATTOOS who managed to clear WCT n he's undergoing training now! Sooo...just pray for the best n i'm sure u'll do fine. All d best!

Oh btw, wat was the question posted to u during ur grp interview? :)
